inotify-hookable software package provides blocking command-line interface to inotify, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install inotify-hookable
inotify-hookable is installed in your system.
Make ensure the inotify-hookable package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep inotify-hookable *
You will get with inotify-hookable package name, version, architecture and description in a table
